Little flocks, big impact

There are hundreds of small scale sheep flocks in the UK who produce high quality fleeces in small batches. These fleeces are beautiful with a extraordinary range of natural colours and textures. Many of these small flocks conserve native and rare breeds of sheep, part of the rich history of British wool for thousands of years. Let’s celebrate the underappreciated native little flocks, their natural variety and the wool they produce.

We take small batches of yarn from smallholders and small scale farms and blend them to produce luxury hand knitting yarns. The unique coloured skeins are perfect for your special knitting projects. All of our yarns are produced in a small batches so have limited availability, so get them while they are available. Small batches will be released throughout the year.

I love learning about heritage breeds, their local adaptations and uses. We have a flock of hens of heritage breeds, Scottish heritage apple trees and dream of a native sheep flock if I can find a local field to keep them in. Little Fold Yarns was borne out of a desire to work with native yarns and support small producers to help conserve native and rare breed sheep.
